One Year to Six Months Before
  1. Announce Engagement. Order Wedding Rings.
  2. Meet with both parents to discuss type of wedding.
  3. Plan Wedding Budget.
  4. Buy a Memory Album or Wedding Planner.
  5. Choose wedding & reception sites.
  6. If having a Church Wedding, meet with clergyman.
  7. Choose Attendants.
  8. Shop for the Bride's dress and order it early!
  9. Plan Color Scheme & shop for Bridesmaid dresses. Order them ASAP -- no later than 4 months prior to the wedding.
  10. Consult travel agent about honeymoon plans.
  11. Register at Wedding Gift Registry.
  12. Begin Guest Lists.
  13. Order Invitations.
  14. Select and book your photographer, videographer & entertainment.

Three to Four Months Before

  1. Complete your Guest List.
  2. Invite out-of-town guests early!
  3. Address Invitations as soon as they arrive or hire a Calligrapher to do it with style!
  4. If you have not already done so, order your bridesmaid dresses now!
  5. Order Groom's, Groomsmen's and Dad's Tuxedos.
  6. Book your caterer.
  7. Shop for wedding cake.
  8. See florist, choose wedding flowers and wedding reception decorations.
  9. Plan Ceremony & Reception details with organist or other entertainment.
  10. Arrange Wedding Transportation.
  11. Complete Honeymoon Plans!


One to Two Months Before

  1. Buy Wedding Gift for each other.
  2. Mail Wedding Invitations.
  3. Plan Rehearsal & Rehearsal Dinner.
  4. Pick up Wedding Rings.
  5. Have Final Fitting of Gown & Bridesmaid Dresses.
  6. Contact Newspaper regarding Wedding Announcement
  7. Arrange hotels for out-of-town guests.
  8. Send Thank you notes for early gifts.
  9. Purchase Gifts for Attendants.


Last Two Weeks!

  1. Pick up Marriage License
  2. Send Announcement to Newspaper.
  3. Have your hair done by hairdresser like you plan to wear it on you Wedding Day! Bring Veil too!
  4. Check on Honeymoon Reservations.
  5. Will you need a ride to the airport? Hire a limo!
  6. Pack for Honeymoon.
  7. Buy Travelers Checks.
  8. Address your Wedding Announcements, have someone mail them for you on your Wedding Day.
  9. Confirm final details with Florist, Entertainment, Rental Services, Caterers, Photographers, Reception sites, etc.
  10. Pay all balances due at this time.
  11. Pay any Security Deposits due at this time, leave as few details as possible to the last minute.

The Last 48 Hours!

  1. Time to start relaxing. Try to stay calm; all your careful planning will pay off!
  2. Rehearsal dinner -- give attendants their gifts!
  3. Congratulations... you made it!! Remember, this is the beginning of the rest of your life together, if things go wrong at the wedding, don't let it ruin your special day.
